CARDS OF THANKS
This is an insertion in the paper where you thank people that helped you during your time of need. Typically people thank their Special Friends, Doctors, Nurses, Clergy, Funeral Director and the person or persons that assisted with the reception.

OBITUARIES
This details the personal data, background, funeral details as well as the survivors of the deceased.

IN MEMORIAMS
This is generally done near or on the annual anniversary of the deceased. It states the deceased's name and the date of passing. It is not uncommon for survivors to include a short poem that fits the occassion.

DEATH NOTICE
The death notice is normally placed before visitation and or funeral services. It should provide details about where the person died, who is survivied by them and the location and date of the funeral funeral details, as well the memorial donation request is usually placed in the death notice. Most newspapers have a policy in place that a funeral notice will only be accepted when placed by the funeral home. Although some newspapers will accept the funeral notice directley from the family, but only on consent and confirmation by the funeral home entrusted with the arrangements.
