Planning a Funeral

The Funeral is an important step toward healing, not only for yourself, but for everyone who is affected by the loss of your loved one. There are a number of details to consider when putting someone’s final arrangements in place.

Which type of service will help you / your loved ones heal?

Having friends and family around you at a difficult time is the first step in the healing process. Whether you prefer a traditional funeral with a viewing or a contemporary service, we want to help you make the right decisions for you, your family and friends.

Most often families choose to have a service which takes the time to acknowledge,  honour and remember a life well lived.  Arranging a  Funeral Service with thoughtfulness, care and concern not only benefits your healing process, but all of your family and the citizens in your community that cared so much about your loved one.

We all need to say "Goodbye" in our own special way.  With the proper measures and procedures in place, will not only ensure that your loved one is remembered now and in the future by you and family, but for others as well.

Just imagine: Fifteen years from now, your loved one’s grandchildren will be able to get to know their grandfather thanks to our Book of Memories memorial tribute pages.  Click here to learn more.

Working Together / A Meaningful Service

We know Funerals and you know your loved one. Let’s work together to create a meaningful service that will pay a fitting tribute. Anything you can think of which will make one's Funeral or Service personal, is important. Items may be brought into the funeral home, pictures may be brought to us, so that we can create a meaningful lasting memorial tribute by means of a keepsake DVD, the options are endless.

We’ll leave the details up to you. You can choose where, when and how to hold the service. You can choose the music you want played, the prayers that will be recited and the special services and personal touches that will help you honour a life well-lived. We will guide you and direct you, but never tell you what to do, the decisions you make are ultimately yours, then leave the rest to us.

The Funeral Ceremony

If you would like to share this moment with your broad network of family and friends, we will help you spread the word. We’ll use our print and online channels to bring the community together to honour your loved one’s life.

You can choose to hold your ceremony in our chapel, your place of worship or you can choose to hold it elsewhere. Just let us know what you prefer.

Burial Services

If you’ve chosen to have your loved one buried, many people choose to hold a visitation period for  prior to the service. Whichever option you choose, we will work with you to ensure that you have every opportunity to bring family and friends together to say a final goodbye before the burial. Cremation Services

If you choose cremation, we strongly recommend that you acknowledge a life well lived. We feel you should have a few options in mind.  Many families choose to have visitation and a Funeral with the casket present, then followed by cremation. Others hold a visitation period with the Urn present, Some, simply have  Memorial Service in our Chapel, your place of Worship or elsewhere and of course there is at least a Graveside Service, These important events and options have been around forever and are specifically designed to help you and your loved ones in the healing process. Please contact us to learn about all of the options available to you. For more information on our Cremation Services, click here.

What’s next?

While it’s important to think about the details of the service and how you’ll keep your loved one’s memory alive, it’s just as important to involve others in the decision. We encourage you to bring family and friends together to discuss their needs and desires.
